When you’re getting ready to move, small investments can help your home stand out from the competition on Rightmove. Here’s Jane Lee's pick of the colours, styles and patterns trending in 2026:
Relaxed lifestyle: wellness isn’t just a buzzword. Buyers pay a premium for calm, move-in-ready homes. Think streamlined spaces, cosy places to chill out and fresh flowers.
Animal print: use sparingly on cushions, lampshades and footstools to add interest without overpowering. See the Velma Leopard Table Lamp, £35, from Abigail Ahern.
Texture overload: pick and mix tactile materials like velvet, wool, natural wood, chunky knits, jute, bouclé, linen, sheepskin and – this one’s a big look for 2026 – silky fringing.
Cool curves: add softness with arched mirrors, round foot stools, oval coffee tables and spherical vases. Check for hard edges buyers might bump into during a viewing.
Vintage charm: practical pieces like chests of drawers, sideboards and storage boxes add character. Blend old and new so rooms don’t look like an antique shop.
Imperfectly perfect: yes you read that right, this year’s interiors are more lived-in and less Instagram perfect. Overly-staged rooms can feel cold and unwelcoming.
Warm tones: earthy tones (like Freckle, Earthborn Paints’ Colour of the Year) are the new neutral.
Beautiful botanicals: around for several years now, this trend isn’t going anywhere fast, with large floral and botanical patterns leading the way.
Colour drench: white ceilings, coving and skirting boards are out and painting everything the same shade is in, which also makes any redecorating easier.
Going bold: good home staging isn’t bland. Large statement prints draw in buyers’ eyes by creating an impact – even if they don’t share your taste.
