Whether you’re 9 or 99 (no apologies for the pun!), there’s nothing more British than enjoying an ice cream, come rain or shine. West Sussex has some of the best parlours around and we should know, as the White & Brooks team has tried most of them!

If you already live in this beautiful part of the country, or you’re thinking about visiting some of our local beaches, historical towns or countryside escapes this summer, prepare for ice cream heaven. We’ve put together a list of our favourite places to grab a cone, tub or even an ice lolly, and let’s just say, we had a lot of fun doing our research.

Pinks Parlour, Bognor Regis

Pinks has been in the ice cream business for 15 years. Its homemade artisan gelato and sorbet is freshly made on the premises, and you can even watch them at work in their very own Ice Cream Lab. Grab an ice cream, waffle or coffee from Pinks and stroll along the beach, which is a stone’s throw away. Alternatively, take the weight off and sit in the outdoor courtyard – or indoors if the weather isn’t playing ball. Pinks is also dog-friendly, so you can bring your four-legged friends too.

Sweet Flamingo, Bognor Regis

Another firm favourite with ice cream fans in Bognor Regis is Sweet Flamingo - a family run business close to the beach. The team produce its own freshly-made gelato every day on the premises and the extensive menu features all the big crowd-pleasers, including sundaes, brown derbys, pancakes and waffles.

Caroline’s Dairy Ice Cream, Chichester and Selsey

This award-winning ice cream is not only available in a range of supermarkets and eateries across the South, but you can also treat yourself by heading to one of its two vans that are based in Hunston and Selsey Beach. All the ice cream is made from the milk produced on Caroline’s RSPCA-assured farm in Sidlesham. It also produces vegetarian and gluten-free ice cream, as well as vegan sorbet, so there’s an ice cream for all.

Rainbows, Chichester

Offering both a takeaway and eat-in service, Rainbows has moved from Bognor Regis to its new home in Chichester. You’ll find traditional ice cream flavours and some ‘out-there’ scoops (bubble gum or candy floss anyone?), as well as sundaes, sorbets, vegan, dairy and gluten-free options, ice cream for dogs, shakes, waffles and pancakes.

Shake-A-Delic, Chichester

Shake-A-Delic can be found in the heart of Chichester and has become so popular that the business has evolved into a dessert bar. Indulge your sweet tooth with soft scoop ice cream, gelato, sorbets, sundaes and frozen yoghurt.

Bee Sweet Ice Cream Parlour, Worthing

As well as serving up delicious ice cream, this parlour is famous for its myriad of cone options. Choose from honeycomb, bubble gum, Oreo, milk chocolate, black waffle, unicorn, teddy bear and plain waffle cones as a vessel for your ice cream. Unusual and old school flavours include tutti frutti, Eton mess, ginger and lemon crunch.

Cotts & Linz, Shoreham

If you’ve decided to venture a little further for a day out, we recommend you try Cotts & Linz Ice Cream Café, just opposite Shoreham Beach. With around 40 flavours to choose from and new recipes being added to the menu throughout the year, you’re bound to find something you love.

If the soft scoops of West Sussex have won your heart, let us know. We can help you sell your current home and find you a new property closer to your favourite ice cream parlour.
