Half term? Halloween? Free weekend in Chichester? Bored in Bognor? White & Brooks has got you covered! The events programme across West Sussex never fails to disappoint - here’s what’s going on in Bognor Regis & Chichester this October.
Astronomy night – 18th October
Dark skies provide all the entertainment we need and every aspect of the cosmos will be celebrated on Friday 18th October, during an event run by RSPB Pagham Harbour and supported by the South Downs Astronomical Society. Keen astronomers should gather at 7:30pm at Pagham Harbour on Selsey Road in Sidlesham. Attendees will be able to view stars, planets and deep space objects through quality telescopes. Tickets are £12.50 per person (£10 for members).
Mars installation – from 19th October
Saturday 19th October marks that start of the amazing Mars installation at Chichester Cathedral and visitors can enjoy a truly atmospheric experience if they book onto one of the Mars at twilight viewings The seven metre in diameter orb will be beautifully lit at dusk, and after dark viewings will be set to a sound composition created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winning composer, Dan Jones. Tickets start from £3.
Networking evening – 21st October
If you work full time but still want to meet other professionals, consider Chichester’s next evening networking event, which takes place at The Rocking Horse on Southgate. Enjoy a cocktail-making class while informally mingling, with the bar reserved exclusively for local business owners, freelancers and entrepreneurs. Booking is required, with tickets priced at £5.
Firework display - 25th October
If you want an early firework fix and prefer the option of an organised event, head to Bognor Regis Golf Club on Friday 25th October - located on Downview Road. Although entry is free, charitable donations are welcome. The sky will come alive at 6:30pm, so arrive in good time. Refreshments will be available.
Gin & Jazz – 26th & 27th October
Is there a better combination to see out the end of the month than gin and jazz? If you think it’s a winning pairing, head to the Crown & Anchor at Dell Quay Road, Apuldram. As well as amazing views over Chichester Harbour, there will be gin cocktails and live jazz music over the weekend of 26th and 27th October.
Half term pottery painting – 30th October
There’s a whole week to fill at the end of the month if you have school-age children. Make mid-week more interesting by booking onto the pottery painting event at the Little Piggies Café at 39 Bedford Street, Bognor. The event is being run by Popolo Ceramico Chichester and Arun, with sessions starting at 10am and 11am. Children can choose to paint a snack plate, a pumpkin ornament, a Day of the Dead skull ornament or a lidded pumpkin pot.
Wizard craft school - 31st October
Imagineers Crafts is opening its Wizarding School for one day only – Thursday 31st October. The themed event will take place at The Phoenix Centre on Westloats Lane in Bognor between 10am and 3pm, and will cost £30 per child (suitable for aged 7 and above). The day will feature a host of creepy crafts, including potion making, wicked wands and pumpkin lights. Booking is required – email imagineerscrafts@gmail.com.
Kid’s Halloween party – 31st October
If parents are being pestered to go out on Halloween itself, they may want to consider the indoor, organised party taking place at The William Hardwicke on Bognor’s High Street. Little ghouls and goblins are being called to attend between 4pm and 7pm, for a devilish disco, face painting, games and prizes for the best fancy dress costume.
