November in Gosport arrives with a bang! We start the month with a number of firework displays and end with a clutch of Christmas events. In between? There’s a star-studded comedy night and a half marathon for the athletes among us. The White & Brooks Gosport team recommends booking ahead for these amazing events.
8th November – Firework Display
Prepare to be dazzled as a professional pyrotechnic display will form the centrepiece of the Friends Of Brockhurst Primary PTFA Guy Fawkes event on Friday 8th November. Also keeping the crowds entertained will be fairground rides, sweets, candyfloss, an ice cream van, face painting, cakes and a food van. Gates open at 6pm and the event is advance ticket purchases only – no tickets for sale at the gate. Adults are £5, children £4 or opt for a family ticket, priced at £14 (2 adults + 2 children, or 1 adult + 3 children).
16th November – Comedy Night
Stitches Comedy Clubs is gifting Gosport a night of side-splitting entertainment, taking place on Saturday 16th November at Haven Church on Forton Road. On the bill is Matt Richardson, star of Celebrity Juice, Roast Battles and Dancing On Ice, Jenny Collier of The Rhod Gilbert Show fame, and star of Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Sean Collins. Your compare James Alderson will keep the jokes flowing. Doors at 7pm, with the acts performing from 8pm. Tickets are priced at £17.
17th November – Gosport Half Marathon
Whether you’re running as part of a club, to get fit or for charity, entering the Gosport Half Marathon is a brilliant idea. The race takes place on Sunday 17th November, with the starting gun going off at 10am. An under 12s children’s fun run (1km) and an under 17s challenge race (2km), will take place first, at 9am and 9:15am, respectively. Registration and fee details can be found online.
23rd November - Christmas Ceramic Decorating
Get your craft on and head to 51-52 High Street on Sunday 23rd November for Imagination Refinery's Christmas ceramic decorating session. This two hour workshop runs between 11am and 1pm, and is suitable for those aged 10 and over (under 16s need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Priced at £12 per person, and includes all materials, tools, glazing and firing needed to produce three Christmas decorations. Drinks will be available to purchase from the café.
30th November - Christmas Lights Switch On
The countdown to Christmas is marked by the switching on of the Gosport High Street Christmas Lights. Saturday 30th November will be full of fun, with live acts, 60+ traders, street performers, a special appearance from Greatest Hits radio’s Mark Collins as the event's compère and a special guest to flip the switch. The entertainment starts from 10am.
