Open mic night – 13th October

Katie’s Vinyl Bar & Kitchen hosts a monthly open mic night and the next falls on Sunday 13th October, with performers welcome between 2pm and 6pm. Singers can belt out their favourites unaccompanied, or bring along suitable a musical instrument, perhaps a keyboard or acoustic guitar. Message ahead to book a slot and if there’s time, the host Stu will organise a jam at the end.

Painting & prosecco evening - 18th October

The Spotted Cow Tea Room along Lee on Solent’s High Street is combining two enjoyable aspects on Friday 18th October – prosecco and paintbrushes! This evening event runs from 6pm to 8pm, with Sarah from The Craftee Club demonstrating how to paint a beautiful floral landscape on canvas. Drinks, nibbles and all materials are included, at a cost of £29.95 per person. Booking is essential.

Business networking breakfast - 23rd October

Calling all small, home-based and independent businesses. The Boro’ Bar at Gosport Borough FC is hosting a business networking breakfast between 9:30am and 11:30am on Wednesday 23rd October. The event is designed to connect local professionals, who can share experiences and discover new opportunities. There are two ticket options available: one that includes a breakfast bap and unlimited hot drinks, and another that’s admission only.

Halloween heritage open day - 26th October

Fort Brockhurst on Gunners Way in Elson is getting into the Samhain spirit on Saturday 26th October. This English Heritage property will be open between 11am and 3pm, with a host of Halloween activities. Expect a spooky trail, biscuit decoration, storytelling, a fancy dress competition and children’s games. Admission is free and dogs are welcome when kept on a lead.

Halloween party in the pub - 26th October

It’s only fitting that the oldest pub in Gosport still trading is hosting a Halloween bash. The Fox at 83 North Street is kicking off the celebrations with trick or treat for all the family up until 8pm. After which, it’s a grown-ups only party with spooky shots and live music from the Someday Soon Duo.

Music by candlelight - 26th October

The latest candlelight session at St John’s Church on Forton Road has been curated by Quay West Events and Andy Hawxwell. Singer-songwriter Scott Lavene will be joined by Georgina Liliane, Ben Pinwill and Mata Dodkins, with the soft, flickering light highlighting the dramatic architecture. Pizzas, beers and soft drinks will be served. Tickets are £10 in advance, doors open at 7pm.

Family Halloween fun - 31st October

If you want a ghoulishly good time actually on Halloween, look no further than The Boro’ Bar at Gosport Borough FC. As darkness falls on Thursday 31st October, the venue will host mini monsters and unpleasant adults between 4:30pm and 7:30pm. A DJ will play devilish dance tunes, while activities will include apple bobbing, face painting, cauldrons of potions, kid’s tattoos and more. There will be free soft drinks for children, a paid-for bar for grown-ups and food available to order. A ‘1 adult + 1 child’ ticket is £10, with additional children at £5. Under 2s go free. Fancy dress is encouraged but is optional.
