As estate agents based in Chichester and Bognor Regis, we have seen our fair share of properties. Some of our favourites? The ones that are brand new – warm, clean and with that box-fresh smell.
That’s why White & Brooks is delighted to support the House Builders Federation’s New Homes Week 2026. The event takes place between Monday 2nd and Sunday 8th February this year, with the theme ‘The Power to Move’.
New Homes Week promotes the 6 key powers attached to buying a brand new home, which are:
- The Power to Enjoy
Move in, relax and enjoy! It’s a real new home superpower. As everything in a new home is just that – new – and backed by a construction warranty, buyers can unpack their boxes and not worry about renovations, running repairs or DIY.
- The Power to Trust
New homes are built to stringent standards and those that buy new are satisfied with their purchase. In fact, House Builders Federation data revealed 94% of today’s new build home buyers would recommend their builder to a friend. As well as this endorsement and the presence of a warranty, there is a New Homes Ombudsman Service in the unlikely event of issues.
- The Power to Buy
Housebuilders want your custom and will frequently offer incentives to make it easier for you to purchase. Ask us about deposit paid/deposit boosts, legal fees paid, stamp duty paid, free upgrades, part exchange, assisted moves and cashback.
- The Power to Save
Did you know the energy price cap increased in January 2026, making energy bills more expensive until 31st March? Those in new homes, however, enjoy a warm glow. The House Builders Federation says, on average, new build homeowners can save more than £64 a month on heating, hot water and lighting bills, amounting to £780 a year (when compared to those living in older properties).
- The Power to Relax
Moving into a new home takes away much of the stress and tension compared to moving into an older property. You don’t have to deal with unwanted possessions left in the loft, you don’t have to spend time and money erasing someone else’s taste, and there are no surprises lingering under the carpet or behind the walls.
- The Power to Belong
Housebuilders work hard to create a sense of place and many people move to new homes to be part of a growing community. Some developments have a central focal point, such as a green or pond, while others include play equipment, wildflower meadows or footpaths that lead into the local landscape. These features help create a neighbourhood where people mix and make friends.
White & Brooks knows there are bonus benefits to buying new not listed above, such as
- A short chain: with a new build being the end of the transaction, buyers can reduce the number of people involved in a chain by purchasing a new home
- Ideal for landlords: with 86% of new builds possessing an A or B EPC rating, landlords can buy with confidence. Not only will a new home meet the existing minimum EPC rating of E, they’ll be futureproofed for when the Government upgrades this requirement to a C (by 2030).
- Choose the plot that suits you: if you buy at a development off plan – that’s before it’s built – you will be able to choose the plot that’s best for your needs.
- A greener choice: brand new homes are kinder to the planet, emitting 65% less carbon a year than the average older property (1.22 tonnes of carbon per year, compared to 3.51 tonnes per year). Instead of retrofitting energy efficient features, new home buyers can move in and benefit from LED lights, superior insulation, energy-smart appliances, EV charging points, and even air source heat pumps and solar panels.
